| Event: Decision Makers Meeting on Good Administration of Land in Africa : Land Administration for Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth |
| Land is a fundamental issue for pro-poor economic growth in Mozambique and it is believed that with better distribution and administration could boost rural development. The Government of Mozambique is aware of that, although seem to lack vision on how to take financial institutions out of the Provincial capitals and encourage them to establish themselves in rural areas where agrarian activities take place. The present paper looks at land administration in Mozambique in general, and at the electronic land administration in particular, and takes a tour on the mechanisms for delivering related services to the public. It examines the pervasive nature of internet through which anybody can access, view, process and use land related information for their specific objectives. The paper concludes by analysing the implications that the lack of privacy and data protection legislation can have on peoplees lives while appraising the role of the information and communication technologies in improving transparency in public sector actions. |
