Basic principles of the main cadastral systems in the world

Modern Cadastres and Cadastral Innovations, FIG Seminar, Delft, 1995 [Cad 95/1]

For the development of mankind, land registration and cadastre play, together with other tools, an essential role. They are not an end in itself, but a means to an end. Land registration and cadastre are like a three-legged stool. One leg represents legal data, one physical or thematic data, and one surveying data. This implies a cooperation between notary, registrar, and surveyor in order to obtain authoratitativeness, completeness, and (legal) validity of the system.
