Cadastral data and LIS in Hungary

Zalaba, Piroska

In consequence of the ongoing socio-economic changes, a reliable and quick updating of the real estate cadastre is necessary. The Hungarian real estate registration system is out of date, it is not able to satisfy the increased demands on data supply both in quantity and quality. This paper gives an overview of the organizational structure of land data management in Hungary, and briefly presents the geometrical background of the existing registration system. In the 70s the automatization process of land data registration was started. First, a centralized system of data processing was introduced, then a decentralized system of registration has been elaborated. Its establishment is still going on. Future plans include the development of a complex cadastral system. The multipurpose cadastre is the closest to the universal concept of a land information system.
