Cultural values as reflected in land information systems in the United States

Coyle, Kevin

Land information systems in the United States are rooted in very fundamental perceptions of equality and liberty. Each major information system now in place reflects either the efforts to express these values or to protect them from infringement. Shifts in the way U.S. citizens interpret these values with respect to the use and management of land will help create modern, integrated systems which are based on balance rather than absolute freedom.
