This paper presents a review of database of traffic accident for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). It discusses the integration of three fields of geomatic discipline which are photogrammetry, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS). The main focus is to create database of traffic accident by using GIS-based application and data collection by utilization of GPS camera. Traffic accident is one of the most important problems being faced by modern societies. It has been a concern of all countries of the world since the number of accidents occurs increased drastically. Multiples agencies have made researches to reduce the rate of road accidents occurrence and to improve more on road safety either by improving engineering measurements or by traffic monitoring. Creating a GIS-based application is one of the approaches to reduce the traffic accident. However, the need to use an accident database not only by engineers but including law enforcement research groups, politicians, teachers, statisticians, and insurance companies. Law enforcement data is the one most heavily relied upon and most commonly used since the police will attend the scene of an accident or when reported to police station. The lack of a comprehensive accident recording and analysis system in Malaysia is one of the factors contributing to the number of traffic accident fatalities. The goal is to produce various and low cost remedial actions that are likely to yield the most effective results. Instead of a classic textual reporting system, GPS and GIS must be integrated in a new coded reporting system.
