A large-scale plan covering the entire federal territory and rendering information on real estate matters in Austria was accomplished in the 18th century: the cadastral map. In order to meet economic, legal, and administrative requirements, the graphic material is now being fed into a data bank. This data bank will in future replace the convential cadastral map and will be referred to as "digital cadastral map". In analogy to the already existing real estate data bank the digital cadastral map will be available for direct access by authorized users (land surveyors, notary publics, lawyers, governmental units, banks, etc.) by means of telecommunication or via data carriers for further processing.
