In the middle of the last century there has been ordered in Hungary the establishment of a provisional cadastre for the levy of land-tax. At the same time the regular surveying of the country had begun too, which made it possible in 1875 to decree the introduction of the state cadastre. The Financial Ministry had the duty of the supervision of the cadastre. In the middle of the last century the legal registration of the ownerships of lands was begun too. Since that time this registration has belonged to the Ministry of Justice. Until 1945 there was a close connection between the cadastre and the legal register. After 1945 the execution of land reforms and the realisation of great investments in connection with economic plans have caused such a lot of changes that it was not possible to follow the alterations. Because of this the Government has ordered to set right the cadastral data through updating of the cadastral maps.
