Economic aspects of land registration and title
Feder, Gershon
With abstracts in English and Polish.
The paper provides a conceptual framework for analyzing the economic aspects of land registration and titling. It then reviews evidence from around the world showing that land registration has led to better access to formal credit, higher land values, higher investments in land, and higher output/income. However, it argues that there are prerequisites for land registration to be economically viable, and there are circumstances where the investment will not be economically viable.
