Electronic conveyancing in Portugal
Silva, Maria Jose Magalhaes and Maria Luisa Clode Figueira Silva Araujo
Traditionally, Portugal is not a European country distinguished by its institutions modernization through the usage of informatics and electronics in the storage and communication of documents and data contained in public folders. Nevertheless, the usage of informatics has been seen as a good enough support to replace the paper support, especially in what concerns land, commercial and civil registers. In other words, the informatic programmes created to these spheres have replaced registers on paper, changing the way the acts are executed; these programmes do not limit themselves to scanning existing documents or allowing them to be done on paper.
