Family Farm And A Form Of Land Use: A Study From The State Of Acre, Brazil

The policies for the Amazonian occupation and development implemented by the Brazilian Federal Government in the early 1970s, replaced the region specific development based on products extracted from the Rain Forest and by the large agriculture and cattle projects. Its main results were: disarticulation of forest products extraction, destruction of large amount natural forests and dislocation of the people from the forestss to the outskirts of cities. This study aims to examine how the shape of land use impacts on the living standards of rural household production of Acre, considering the type of governance of resources (land/environment) on the earth, relying the periods 1996/1997 and 2006/2007. The methodology is developed ASPF Project, located at the Federal University of Acre, as well as using the stratification of households in class, having as parameter the current minimum wage in the country. The results indicate that the standard of living is explained by way of land use, with a strong environmental degradation among the "rich" families as well as among the poor families in the region.
