GEOBASIS.NRW and GDI NRW : interoperable e-government and e-business solutions with basic geo-data
Brueggemann, Heinz
This document has been presented at the Symposium on "IT renewal strategy for land registry and cadastre" held on 8 and 9 May 2003 at Enschede, the Netherlands.
More than twenty years ago, the surveying and mapping administration of North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) has started the generation of state-wide databases with cadastral and topographic data at state and local level. Currently, with the GEOBASIS.NRW project the second generation of geographic information systems for cities and counties is being developed, based upon the new nation-wide standard ALKIS (official cadastre information system). About 100 participating cities, counties, GI companies, NRWState offices, scientific and research institutes and users are co-operating in 5 project teams and realizing solutions in 7 pilot cities and counties. For all cities and counties in NRW, ALKIS will be the basis for network integrated, interoperable local geographic information systems. Currently, the migration process from the existing solutions of ALB (digital parcel register) and ALK (digital cadastre map) is being prepared.
