Government policies and their impact on land administration in the Czech republic
Sima, Jiri
After the velvet revolution and the fall of the communist regime in 1989 a new governmental programme of restitution, privatization and general economic reconstruction was started. The cadastre at that time could not meet the new requirements and therefore it was decided to go back to the time-tested principles of the previous land registry system: the land cadastre. The result of these attempts is the present 'legal cadastre' combining the land registry and land cadastre into one tool administered solely by the survey authorities. During 1992 new cadastral legislation was prepared and came into effect at the beginning of 1993. Thus, the 1st of January 1993 is a milestone in the long history of the land cadastre in the Czech Republic.
