Land consolidation in Spain : the land registry perspective

Gonzalez Garcia, Isabel

Article 33 of the Constitution recognises the social function of property, and hence of both rural and urban property. Fulfilment of the social function of rural property means a more rational, technically sophisticated tapping of natural resources as well as a raising of the rural populationns standard of living. At present the applicable legislation inclines toward limiting the contents of property rights, from both the active standpoint (by setting a series of limitations on property owners) and the passive standpoint (by punishing breaches of those limitations).
