Land reform, cadastar [sic] and landuse in Republic of Bulgaria

Delieva, Anni & Ana Stoeva

Land resources as part of the nature have been used by the human societies as a source of direct consumer goods (wild mordant and medicine plants and so on), resource for labour, with the help of which there is public production of subjects of labour good for the production of different articles. Land resources differ because they can be determined as an integral resource. That means that if you use them for a certain purpose, it will be difficult or even impossible to use them for another purpose. For example, agricultural land could be used for the production of agricultural products, but it could be used as a place for different types of construction (industrial, transport, housing, hydro, for offices, connected to the tourism and recruitment and so on) or for forestation creating parks, green areas and so on. Therefore, land use could be taken as a process of exploitation of land resources with the purpose of fulfilling material, aesthetic, cultural and other necessities and desires of the human societies. Efficient use of land plays key role in the process of creating material wealth for each society and serves as a base for establishing certain social relations.
In Bulgaria more than half of the land (-57%) is agricultural. Towns and villages take 4% and forests and water areas are respectively 33% and 1.8%.
In order to assure sustainable development for the recent and future generations, it is necessary that a balance among the exploitation, use and preservation of the land as a natural resource should be achieved.
