Opening Speech

It is my pleasure to welcome you on behalf on the Netherlands' Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency. The reason that I am here, is that my organisation together with the International Institute for Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) founded in March this year the School for Land Administration Studies, of which you heard the director, professor Paul van der Molen, just welcoming you. As he told you, an important task for the School is to carry out an agreement with the United Nations University. Amongst other things this agreement comprises the organisation of at least 1 meeting a year, with the aim to bring together people at high level, both in the politics, public administration and others, that consider the matter of land administration from a policy perspective.
