Risk and disaster management : a case study of Nairobi, Kenya

Nabutola, Wafula

With each passing day we just have to thank the Maker. Why is this? Well, because there is no way, of knowing if we would have survived it or not. This is regardless of where we are, whether it is at work, at home, at school, traveling or even just sleeping. Each activity entails RISK. RISK is the possibility of incurring a misfortune or a loss. A Surveyor, working as Facilities Manager one is confronted with an array of such potential challenges in respect of Persons, Property and Money. Some of these risks can be managed internally within the Facilities Management Department directly. Other RISKS emanating from third party involvement have to be countered, in part, by extension of obligation to suppliers via their contracts or by insurance or both.
