The Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) is an important instrument for the management of environmental information on landholdings in Brazil. The information is compiled in the National Rural Environmental Registry System (SICAR) and represents an important source of data for environmental and economic control and planning, and to combat deforestation. This publication provides information included in SICAR until October 10th, 2017, and was developed specifically for the geographical context of the priority municipalities for prevention, monitoring and control of deforestation actions, and the municipalities with deforestation monitored and under control in the Amazon Region. In this paper, we present the total number and the area of landholdings, the remnants of native vegetation, the permanent preservation areas and the Legal Reserves as declared for the area being studied. Furthermore, we present the Brazilian official deforestation data until 2016, and make a comparison between the total deforestation in each municipality and the deforested areas in registered farms.
