Spatial data mmanagement in Zambia : an institutional operational overview

Mbumwae, Victor

With abstract in English. - With references.

Management of data requires that certain issues, technical and otherwise be addressed both at the operational and institutional level. This means that at the operational level, technical requirements, demands and procedures are put in place. At the institutional level, decision making as well as management of the spatial data is supported within the organisational framework. Institutional issues also require coordination with spatal data producers and users to ensure cooperation and non-duplication of effort. The paper seeks to highlight the spatial data management in Zambia, with special emphasis on the current trends in projects involving government agencies, as well as the private sector.
