The Botswana Land Information System (BLIS) is a computerisation of the urban land records carried out in order tofacilitate the allocation and sale of the urban state land released under the Accelerated Land Servicing Programme (ALSP). This paper will outline the processes that led to the estabishment of BLIS, its information contents and its potential as the foundation for establishing a spatial data infrastructure in Botswana.
