The Danish way : development of the Danish spatial data infrastructure through binding collaboration
Jarmbaek, Jesper
Abstract The Danish eGovernment strategy "Towards better digital service, increased efficiency and stronger collaboration" identifies binding collaboration across sectors and government levels as an important factor in the strategy's realization. Cooperation and consensus-based decisions have driven the development of Denmark's eGovernment and its spatial data infrastructure (SDI). The United Nations' eGovernment Readiness Index (2008), highlights that in countries like Denmark where eGovernment development is advanced, cooperation is a major enabling factor. Beyond cooperation, a number of structural reforms have changed the Danish administrative landscape. The reforms have increased the need for a nationwide platform for linking the spatial dimension to various eGovernment initiatives.
