The disciplinary process

This paper will describe a normal disciplinary process and will outline some of the concerns and pitfalls that a disciplinary panel must be aware of when dealing with sanctions against a professional surveyor. The paper will present examples of disciplinary hearings and identify weaknesses and strengths in the processes followed. The paper will be based on disciplinary legislation and cases dealt with by the Alberta Land Surveyorrs Association and other Canadian disciplinary tribunals.
