The GAB-system in Norway

The GAB-system is a multi-purpose land information system with data related to ground-properties, adresses and buildings. GAB will be one common register for government institutions at all levels needing information about properties, adresses and buildings. GAB is mainly based on existing routines in the public administration, and one of the aimes is to simplify the keeping of the registers and reporting, by having one common system with common report routines. The system will be put into operation in 1981. There will be a gradual realization of the single subregisters. Priority will be given to the property register which will be completed for all of Norway in 1982.
