Lukhele, Albert & Moses S. Mpila
Swaziland is in a process of developing a comprehensive National Land Policy, which is without any form of discrimination in land allocation. Discrimination in this respect on gender, race, colour, ethnic origin, tribe, birth, creed or religion, or social or economic standing, political opinion, age, disability. Whoever needs land for building shelter, farming and business undertaking should be allocated such land. Public consultation will be undertaken to solicit view and recommendations on how land should administered. This paper briefly discusses initiatives that have already been undertaken by government in addressing the need of a policy. The National Land Policy Draft document was put on hold pending the outcome of the National Constitution. It reviews land issues as they are addressed by the constitution. It also brings together legislations, which deals with land issues and compares them with the constitution. Finally, it brings up challenges and recommendations.
