The role of a national mapping organisation
Bomford, A.G.
The role of governments in providing maps is not regarded as axiomatic any longer and in developed countries the world over governments are examining their mapping organizations, asking which maps should be made by public servants, which by private enterprise and which should not be made at all. The paper examines this phenomen and the role of mapping organizations in a fundamental manner in order to distil some maxims which will help to answer these questions.
