Topcon network RTK

Dedes, George

Powerpoint presentation.

Focusing on establishing and monitoring RTK networks, the presentation began by describing the different types of network: CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station), Standard RTK, Modelled RTK. Components of a GNSS+ network were then described. Benefits of RTK include improved productivity of users, the fact that users use a common reference system (not local) and don't need to set up a base station, and that a common communications system is utilised. Several Topcon RTK networks are in operation in the USA and Europe, and recently a network has been implemented in China. User groups include surveyors, machine control, agriculture and GIS users. 'G3' technology, within the Topcon product family, has the ability to track GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellites. Further details were then given on the specification of reference station receivers and antennas. After describing the modular structure of the TopNET reference station software suite, different types of network configurations were outlined.
